Reportable Illnesses and Symptoms
The exam treats employee health as a reporting system: certain illnesses must be reported to the manager, and certain symptoms require immediate exclusion.
Key points:
The Big Six are Norovirus, hepatitis A, Salmonella Typhi, Shigella, Shiga toxin-producing E. coli, and non-typhoidal Salmonella.
Report vomiting, diarrhea, jaundice, sore throat with fever, or a lesion with pus on the hand or wrist.
A Big Six diagnosis plus vomiting or diarrhea means the employee must be told to leave.
Return is cleared only by the regulatory authority or a doctor written release, depending on the pathogen.
Managers get these items wrong when they answer from habit instead of from the rule. Read the number, then connect it to the task.
