Ice-Point Calibration
Ice-point calibration is the fast method for a dial thermometer, and the exam asks for the reading and the adjustment.
Key points:
Fill a glass with crushed ice and water, and stir.
Wait 30 seconds, then put the probe in the middle without touching the sides.
Wait at least 30 seconds. The thermometer should read 32 F.
If it does not, adjust the nut so it reads 32 F before you use it.
Managers get these items wrong when they answer from habit instead of from the rule. Read the number, then connect it to the task.
